On 02/25/16 at approximately 7:00 PM a citizen contacted Sheriff Gjesdal at a city council meeting he was attending. He reported he had been assaulted within the previous 30 minutes. The person had obvious bruising and bumps on his head.
K9 Deputy Mike Baker arrived and conducted the investigation. The victim said he had been walking back to his home from Dad’s Country Store in Rock Island. Two Hispanic males approached him out of the darkness and assaulted him. They then stole some beer and candy he’d just purchased.
Suspect #1 was described as a Hispanic male, 6-05 tall, 230 pounds, wearing a black “beanie”, black hoodie, and khaki colored pants. Suspect #2 was described as a Hispanic male, 5-06 tall, 130 pounds, wearing a white baseball cap, black hoodie, and dark pants. This suspect may have facial injuries sustained during the fight.
