Manson School District is forming a facilities review committee and would like to invite any resident of Manson to join in this work. The committee is charged with:
Reviewing previous committee recommendations
Reviewing enrollment (past, current and projected)
Reviewing current facilities
Reviewing staff and community input
Making recommendations to the Manson School Board
Our first meeting is October 15th at 6:30PM at the Manson District Office.

Titus Petersen, Manson High School student, is among eight local finalists nominated for the “Future Technology Leader of the Year” award sponsored by the Greater Wenatchee Area Technology Alliance (GWATA) for individuals who developed inspirational technology projects.
Titus was nominated for researching and conducting experiments on atmospheric/wind patterns using cutting edge technology and video capabilities to learn about a topic he was interested in. Back in May he launched his first ever weather balloon which traveled over 90,000 feet about the earth. The awards ceremony will take place on September 26th at the Wenatchee Convention Cetner – Good Luck Titus!

The Manson School Board has approved the hiring of Mr. Shawn Thurman to fill the position of Manson High School Principal. Don Vanderholm served as Manson High School Principal for eleven years prior to accepting the Lind/Ritzville Superintendent position for the 2018-19 school year.
Mr. Thurman comes to Manson from the Yakima School District with 20 years of experience. He began his educational career as a para-educator for two years at Sunnyside School District where he then became a teacher and taught for six years. He received his administrative certification in 2012 and has worked as a curriculum and assessment coordinator, special programs director and assistant middle school principal. He currently serves as Yakima School District’s Title One Chief Officer.
Shawn, his wife Kristy, son Scott and daughter Jessica are excited to join Manson School District and the Manson Community.
The Manson School District will be hosting a surplus sale from 9:00 to 2:00 on Friday, July 31, 2018 at 1210 Totem Pole Road, Manson, WA.
Items for sale include: cabinetry, textbooks, technology equipment, lockers, commercial oven and other miscellaneous items.

The Manson School District hereby calls for bids on two Blue Bird school buses: a 1985 diesel Type D, 72 passenger and a 1999 diesel conventional 19 passenger/wheelchair.

The Manson High School FFA held their annual Awards Banquet. Apart from beautiful banners and a wonderful dinner prepared by the Manson High School kitchen staff, new officers were also signed into office. The new Manson FFA Officers for 2018-2019 are: President Blake Cochran, Vice-President Payton Stevens, Secretary Bryce La Mar,Treasurer Henry Armstrong, Sentinel Cole Cochran and Reporter Bryanna Harris. This year we had four Green Hands added to the team. Cody Fitzpatrick, Bryanna Harris, Gunner Rasmussen and Ricardo Escoto with Bryanna Harris awarded as Greenhand of the Year.
We are very thankful to our honorary Chapter Farmers this year, which consisted of Matt and Shelly Charlton, Brett and Bev La Mar, Chad and Kelly Gosvener, Travis and Megan Schoenwald and Mary Amsden.
We would also like to give a very big thanks and all our appreciation to Jennifer Harris, Don and Teena Vanderholm, Dan and Janet Krumm, Adam and Cindy Rasmussen, Travis and Megan Schoenwald, Mary Amsden, Craig and Annette Stevens and Bev and Brett LaMar.
Overall it was a wonderful year full of lots of great memories and we can’t wait for the next one.
Matt Brown, Manson High School’s music teacher has been selected as the Regional Teacher of the Year. Nine ESD’S regions across the state each select one teacher to be considered for the State Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Brown will compete against the other eight nominees with the winner announced in September of 2018.
Todd Smith, Manson Middle School Principal, wrote in his nominating letter: “Matt Brown is a consummate professional and whether he is honored with this award or not, he will continue to provide outstanding instruction and, indeed, a visionary presence for students who will become better human beings for having learned the art of musicianship.” We could not agree more.

Manson School District Says Goodbye to Middle and High School Principals Don Vanderholm and Todd Smith and Welcomes Dr. Heather Ireland as the New Middle School Principal.
Manson Middle and High School Principals, are both moving on to new endeavors…
High School Principal, Don Vanderholm has accepted an offer to serve as Lind-Ritzville School District’s new Superintendent. Don has worked for the Manson School District for the past 11 years as the high school principal and recently completed his superintendent certification.
Todd Smith, Middle School and Options Principal who came to the district in 2013, will be moving to California. Todd will continue working in the education field while his family pursues higher education and entertainment career opportunities.
Dr. Heather Ireland who has been with the District for 10 years, most recently serving as Director of Learning/Special Education Director, will become the new Principal of Manson Middle School.
