Chelan Fire and Rescue Update 6-1-12

ChelanFireRescueLogo200FIRST ALARM - Chelan Fire and Rescue (CFR) responded to 31 emergencies from 05/25/12 to 05/31/12; 22 medical aid calls, one residential structure fire, three automatic fire alarms, three brush fires, one smoke investigation and one outside illegal fire. Twenty of these calls took place over Memorial Day weekend.

Brush Fire – 05/30/2012, 2018 hours: 911 report of a brush fire in the area of MP 232 US HWY 97A. Rescue 71, Chief 701, B71 responded and found a 300’ x 50’ grass fire next to the road. Rescue 71 quickly contained the fire and Brush 71 arrived to overhaul and mop up the fire perimeter while Rescue 71 responded to another medical aid call. Brush 73 and Tender71 were staffed and standing by.

Residential House Fire – 05/26/2012, 1743 hours: 911 report of a structure fire in Manson. Engine 71 responded under the automatic aid agreement and was cancelled en route by Command 5.

Brush Fire - 05/25/2012, 1430 hours: 911 report of a tree fire, 30 Quiet Valley Road (Okanogan County) around 1430. Chief 702 responded and reported a smoke column a mile out. Brush 71 and Tender 74 responded with Chief 702. Chief 702 arrived on scene and reported a one to two acre fire in grass/bushes and timber, home owner was attempting to control the fire with a tractor. Chief 702 upgraded the fire to a 2nd alarm, adding Brush 73, 74, Tender 72, Chelan Ranger District, DNR and Units from D/OCFPD15 responded. Fire was contained at two acres. Station 71 was staffed through a level one call back with a Chief Officer, three career staff and two volunteers.
