Limited delays for drivers on I-90 east of Snoqualmie Pass next week due to holiday

Sparks will be flying next week, but not because of construction delays on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass. Due to the Fourth of July holiday, crews will be limiting work so drivers can get to their celebrations on time.

However, the Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will be closing the pass for rock blasting just one night from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 2. Crews will close I-90 in both directions from Hyak (milepost 54) to the Price Creek Sno-Park (milepost 61) from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 2 for rock blasting.

WSDOT crews will suspend work at noon on Tuesday, July 3 through the morning of Thursday, July 5. Drivers traveling before or after these dates may experience minor delays due to rolling slowdowns. The traffic shift westbound around the snowshed will remain in place through the holiday.

Although WSDOT is suspending work for the holiday, drivers need to remember that increased traffic volumes could cause delays. Drivers are encouraged to know before they go by utilizing the following tools to plan their trips:
