ImageChelan County Sheriff (CCSD) - Sheriff Mike Harum reports on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 7:15 p.m. Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies along with the Cashmere Fire Department were dispatched to the Cashmere Municipal Airport after RiverCom Dispatch Center received reports an airplane landing without its landing gear.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted the pilot, Raymond Corbaley (56 years of age) of Cashmere.  Corbaley had been piloting the 1977 Mooney single engine aircraft and the sole occupant.  Corbaley told deputies he had failed to deploy his landing gear before the approach at the airport causing the aircraft to skid down the runway on its underside.  Corbaley was not injured in the incident and damage to the airplane was limited to the underside and the propeller, which had struck the asphalt several times as the plane slid down the runway.

The airport was closed until 8:30pm while the plane was cleared from the runway. The Federal Aviation Administration has been advised of the incident.
