Chelan County Sheriff, Brian Burnett reports early Sunday morning at about 0419, Rivercom received a call of a passenger car having been struck by an Eastbound BNSF train at the Applets Way intersection in Cashmere.
The female driver, Kalee McKernan of Cashmere was uninjured and not in the car at the time of the collision.
Deputies arriving at the scene stated McKernan turned westbound onto the tracks from Applets Way at the crossing, mistaking the tracks for Sunset Highway where her vehicle became stuck. She attempted to free the vehicle but was unable to do so. McKernan’s vehicle appeared totaled in the collision.
