On December 17, 2011 at approximately 0013 hours, Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at 7 Star Orchard located at 1400 Klate Road in Manson.
The reporting party advised Rivercom that their friend, 28 year old Manson resident, Amilcar Lopez Ramirez had been stabbed and the suspect, a 17 year old Manson man, had left the location in an unknown vehicle.
As Deputies responded, they were flagged over by a motorist at Rocky Point on SR 150 and soon contacted three subjects in a vehicle, one being that of the stabbing victim who was conscious, but bleeding profusely from the chest. As Deputies and EMS personnel were attending the victim and trying to gather information, the two other people in the car pointed to a maroon Geo Prism driving past their location, stating it was the stabbing suspect. Deputies were able to stop and detain the suspect without incident, all within about 100 yards of the victim vehicle on SR 150.
EMS personnel were able to get the victim into the ambulance and were performing CPR, but due to the severity of the victims injuries, they were unable to revive him and he died on scene.
The stabbing was the result of several friends drinking together in one of the cabins when an argument started. The suspect was becoming aggressive toward the other occupants and was told to leave. He went to his cabin which was about 100 feet away where witnesses state he retrieved a knife and returned, forcing his way into the victim’s cabin. There, he attempted to stab one person who was able to move out of the way and avoided being cut.
The victim wasn’t involved in the altercation, but attempted to stop the suspect when the suspect turned and stabbed him multiple times in the chest area. The suspect then fled the scene and the victim was being transported to the hospital and soon contacted Deputies responding to the scene.
The suspect was booked into the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center for Murder 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and Burglary 1st Degree.
