UPDATE: Victim Identified
Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett reports that on January 28, 2011 at about 0054 hours, Rivercom received a 911 call from a Manson residence from a subject stating there was an altercation and he shot his friend. When deputies arrived to secure the scene, they detained the suspect, identified as 20 year old Steven M. Swinford of Chelan. Medics arrived and confirmed the victim of the shooting was deceased.
It appears there were two other men in the home at the time of the shooting who were not involved in the altercation and were not injured. Chelan County Detectives are currently working at the scene with the Chelan County Coroner and the Washington State Patrol Detectives. The suspect, Steven M. Swinford, was arrested and booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice center for Murder 2nd Degree at approximately 0417 hours on Friday January 28, 2011.
The victim information will not be released until after the Chelan County Coroner has completed his initial investigation and the victim’s family has been properly notified.
