Maribeth Clark of Chelan Vacation Properties will lead the Chamber’s executive committee as president of the board.
The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce welcomed 2012 with elections to determine executive officers for its board of directors. Maribeth Clark, Co-Owner of Chelan Vacation Properties, will govern as the newly elected president. “I decided to run for Chamber president to be a part of the development and growth of our local economy. We have a great board at the Chamber, and I am excited to work with this group of people,” said Clark.
She’ll be joined by Chamber Vice President Guy Evans of Sunshine Farm Market and Tunnel Hill Winery. Ken Flynn, General Manager of Wapato Point Management Company will act as secretary/treasurer. The final members of the executive committee are 2011 Chamber President Morgan Picton of real estate firm Morgan Picton & Associates, and Chamber Executive Director Mike Steele. Elections were held at the board’s monthly meeting on February 8.

“During my term as president I hope to encourage and facilitate the local government to use the Chamber as a resource and representative of the business community. There are problems and trends within government that interfere with our success as businesses, and we need our elected officials to understand the negative impact of unnecessary regulations,” said Clark.

Other Chamber board members include: Jean Ashby of Whaley’s General Store, Eric Campbell of Campbell’s Resort, Lester Cooper of Chelan Rotary, Angela Jacobs of The Blending Room, and Dirk Veleke of Cascade Weed & Pest Management.

“We’ve got a very motivated executive committee. This year, the board is renewing its commitment to focus on economic development in the Chelan Valley. One of the tactics for accomplishing this is by supporting the deregulation of certain industries,” said Steele. Industries of focus will include construction, real estate and vacation rentals.

The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday of the month at 5pm. Board meetings are open to all Chamber members. The board’s next meeting will be held March 14.
