ImageThe Lake Chelan Arts Council is sponsoring a new format for the Lake Chelan Fine Arts Festival. The festival will take place in Riverwalk Park August 20-22 on beautiful Lake Chelan and will include something for everyone. "We want to bring back the Arts Festival to Lake Chelan for people to enjoy this summer, but have a few surprises in store" said Barb Koenig, Co-Chair of the Festival.

The event will kick-off on August 19 with a Gallery Gala - Preview Party at Campbell's Resort Park Room from 7pm. until 10pm. Preview of the Juried Art Gallery will be the focus of this event with announcement of the awards for the gallery, entertainment, no host bar and hors d'oeurves. Art will be for sale and cost of the event is $25 per person.

The Riverwalk Park venue will showcase artists from around the Northwest with entertainment, food, and a children's area. Art to be sold will include painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, wood, metal and mixed media. "We are thrilled to have 26 booths sold with the possibility of a total of 30," said Mary Ann Warren, Co-Chair of the Fine Arts Festival. She also hopes that "the event will grow bigger each year."

A Local Artists Venue will feature the work of local artists and students from the Chelan and Manson areas. Food vendors will be in the park with local businesses selling food on Emerson Street. Entertainment will be playing on the stage with Lake Chelan as a back-drop. Children will have a play area where they can create art and enjoy the outdoors.

The third annual “Art by the Foot Silent Auction” will feature art by local Chelan/Manson area artists. An Artist Reception will be held at Allisons of Manson on July 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. so that patrons can preview the Art by the Foot. The art will be displayed at Allisons of Manson until August 20 when the art will be moved to Riverwalk Park.

The Lake Chelan Arts Council was re-established in 2007 to encourage all forms of art in the Chelan Valley. A focus of the Arts Council is the Outdoor Gallery of visual art. The Art Festival was held for a number of years up until recently as Riverwalk Fine Arts. The Council decided to re-instate the Festival for the enjoyment of visitors and the community with an added focus on local artists.

The Council has appreciated the support and encouragement of the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Chelan Tourism Promotion Group, City of Chelan, and Campbell's Resort. More information can be found at www.lakechelanartscouncil.com.
