Outgoing President Les Cooper and New President Denise Lorenz

The Lake Chelan Rotary Club installed their new officers at a banquet held at Winemakers Grill. The event culminated an outstanding year for the Lake Chelan Rotary Club and the leadership of Les Cooper, who raised funds for six Shelter Boxes, sponsored the annual Chelan Century Challenge Bike Ride, summer Salmon Barbecue, Radio Day, awarded $17,000 in scholarships to Chelan and Manson High School graduates, became a major financial sponsor of Chelan Valley Hope, gave continuing support to Give Naked, supported world health and outreach efforts in Guatemala, Lesotho, Mexico and Rwanda. In addition over $8,000 in grants were given to local groups. The club takes pride in assisting in the chartering of a high school Interact Club at Chelan High School, and completing their pledge to the new library fundraising in excess of $25,000.

Les Cooper installed the new 2012-2013 officers who included new President Denise Lorenz, who is the CEO of Strata Inc., a cell phone tower construction company, President-Elect Tim Hollingsworth, the owner of Pinnacle Surveying, Vice-President Jeff Fehr, a Chelan Attorney, Treasurer Kit Couchee, and Secretary Sandy Calicoat of Wells Fargo Bank. Also serving on the Board of Directors this next year will be Kyle Plew, Concie Luna, Coron Polley, Tiffany Gering and Les Cooper, the Immediate Past President.

Leaving the Board and receiving a gift of a bound Lake Views photo book were retiring directors Tom Kophs, Jordana LaPorte, Micheal Steele, and 2010-2011 Past President Tom Warren.

Honored at the banquet were Tiffany Gering and Kyle Plew who were named Paul Harris Fellows, for outstanding contributions to Rotary and the community. The overflow crowd was inspired by a program from Tamra Jackson, principal at Bridgeport High School and two of her students, explaining the wonderful success of that rural community in graduating their students, and the honor received last year from President Obama.
