The Manson Community Library invites kids of all ages to sign up for the summer reading program. Kids should come to the library as soon as school is out for the summer and sign up for the program and get a calendar of events. A lot is going on this summer to keep kids busy. The theme this summer is: DREAM BIG ~ READ! There are at least two programs each week and kids can shop at the Summer Reading Store for prizes that they earn as they read. All programs are open to the public and are free.

“Who is the Green Man, and what are his dreams?”

The “Green Man” is a statue that was donated by Jack & Gale Courtney. He has been placed under the tree in the Reclamation District’s new landscaping bordering the parking lot. He’s right across the street from Manson Community Library and BOY!!! has he created a stir!!!

The Manson Community Library is having a contest to find out what kids think about the “Green Man”. This years Summer Reading Program theme is “DREAM BIG ~ READ! and we want to hear what dreams the “Green Man” may have. There are four age categories and a prize will be awarded to one winner of each category. The stories will be judged on creativity and imagination! The Manson Book Club will judge the entries! The categories are:

Kindergarten to 3rd grade;     4th through 6th grade;

6th through 8th grade;             9th through 12th grade

The winners of the K-3 and 4-5 will each receive a $15.00 gift certificate for the Book Fair at Manson Elementary that’s held in the Fall. The winner of the 6-8 and 9-12 will each receive an i-pod shuffle.

All entries must be turned in to the Manson Community Library by July 15, 2012. Younger children, especially, are encouraged to draw a picture to go along with their story!
