The 92nd Annual Apple Blossom Royalty Selection held on January 21st at the Manson High School Gymnasium was a grand event and drew a good crowd mostly because this year there were 10 candidates.
The evening began with the introduction of the candidates followed by a belated Star Spangled Banner sung by Whitney Pittman. Then the contestants had a chance to deliver their individual speeches based on the theme of Pirates, Petals and Pearls.
Each contestant was then given the question of what they would put into their personal treasure chest. The other contestants were kept in a sound-proofed area during each answer.
The Candidates & Escorts Dance followed, choreographed by Pat Beretta. Then it was time for the audience vote. During the vote, a detective from the Manson High School Drama Club gave a short infomercial on an upcoming play. A Power Point presentation entitled "Farewell to the 2011 Apple Blossom Royalty" was shown.
Queen Mindy Neal & Princesses Amanda Buck, Hailey Ellsworth, & Christy Guerra recapped their year-long experiences and said their goodbyes. Master of Ceremonies, Chamber Director Mike Steele presented the recognition of Apple Blossom Chairperson & Chaperones and Presentation of Scholarships.
Then the big moment, the crowning of 2012 Royalty. The winners were Princess Liliana Morales (Lily), Princess Sierra Miller, and Queen Idalia Guillen (Dolly) Mendoza. A Royalty Reception followed with juice and cream-filled delights.
