Activity Following “Open House” Meetings as of 2/24/09

Manson Parks Department – Enhancement and usability of the Downtown Waterfront projects such as work on “Dog Park,” marina lighting and possible pilings enforcement to take place. They are also continuing work on Wapato Lake and Willow Point
Manson School District – Linking school to town project in the form of a safe foot path from the elementary school to the downtown area has begun it’s process.
Manson Kiwanis/Chelan Fruit Growers – Promotion of downtown viability and community projects have begun in the form of enhanced landscaping and creation of a more inviting “green area” in the front of the Trout Building.
Manson Business Association/Manson Kiwanis/Dave Baker/ MSD – Promotion of downtown viability project has been started. This project is to reinforce the wooden wall structure, base paint and then work with a student/students to paint a mural on the property between Buddy’s and the current Post Office location.
Manson Kiwanis/Ed Sullivan/MBA/MSD – Promotion of downtown viability and community project is underway in the form of creating a “park area” to be used by visitors and Manson community in the empty lot owned by Mr. Sullivan between the Laundromat and the former Plumber’s business. Architecture work will take place with Manson SD student(s), landscaping donations and labor will be performed by Kiwanis, students, MBA, community members and other sources. Mr. Sullivan has pledged his support of this project in many ways.
Manson Kiwanis – Promotion of downtown viability project in the form of healthy and aesthetically necessary tree pruning along the downtown core (Chelan Realty – Fire Dept). This project will take place Saturday, February 28th from 9am-12pm. Volunteers needed.
Manson Grange/Chelan Fruit Growers – Promotion of downtown viability and community history project has been initiated to rejuvenate the Manson Map on the Trout Building wall and to create a Memorial Wall on the building honoring Manson community members who have gone before us.
Mr. Ed Sullivan – Promotion of downtown viability projects and support of the Manson community have begun in many forms:
· Renovation of the Manson Business Center including roofing, paint, brickwork and flowers.
· Renovation of the “LJ’s” building including paint and exterior restructure to promote a vineyard/agricultural community.
· Strong enhancement of the Banjo Creek facility to provide opportunity for extensive outdoor activity in order to promote shoulder season attraction to Manson.
· Creation of the Banjo Creek Community Center as an affordable venue for community events, as well as tourist use and instigating a once a month free use for Manson community events.
· Promotion of sisterhood with an Italian community that shares our demographics.
Manson Community Council – Promotion of a viable downtown and community has been given by support of code creation, enhancement and enforcement in partnership with other organizational projects.
Manson Business Association/Community Businesses – Promote downtown viability project in the form of an Adopt-A-Garden program along downtown streets (Lake Chelan Realty to Fire Dept.) is underway. Sponsors needed, plaques of honor and acknowledgement will be included.
Manson Business Association – A Vital Manson Community will be promoted in the form of instigating and supporting continuation of this process, being the voice of the Manson community and supporting the efforts of Manson organizations and individuals who promote these common causes.
Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce/ Manson County Commissioners/Port of Chelan County – Promotion of economic vitality of the Manson community has begun in order to bring new business, new businesses, support for existing businesses and jobs for our community members. They will provide support for our “big” projects. A feasibility study is already in the works!
Other:
· Sherwin-Williams Paint Co., Gerry Ustanik (Manson resident) – deep contractor discounts for all Manson projects participating in the identified goals.
· The Manson Grange has reminded us that it continues to be proud to be the Community Center for Manson and remains free to community events.
· Herb Sargo and Chris Willoughby have volunteered their services in regards to floral and vegetative enhancements of the Downtown Manson area.
