Chelan County Sheriff (CCSD) - Sheriff Harum reports in the early morning hours of December 24, 2008 at 0412 hours Rivercom Dispatch Center received a report of a mailbox on fire at the intersection of Cagle Gulch and Union Valley Road. Chelan County Fire District 7 and Chelan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area.
While enroute, Rivercom Dispatch Center continued to receive additional citizen reports of mailboxes and garbage can fires. A total of 13 fires were discovered and put out by Chelan County Fire District 7. Fuel for the fires appeared to be newspapers, mail left in the mailboxes and garbage left at the curb for pick-up by Waste Management.
Fresh snow falling over night covered suspect vehicle tracks and suspect footprints left at each arson scene. Fires were located on North Bradley Street, Highland Road, Cagle Gulch Road and Union Valley Road.
Sheriff’s Detectives are asking citizens who may have seen anything unusual in these areas (including vehicles or persons a foot) between 0400 hours and 0500 hours to call Lieutenant Jerry Moore at 509-667-6840.
