On October 18, local bakers will compete for bragging rights at the Chelan Valley Harvest Fest Apple Pie Contest.
Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) - On October 18, locals and visitors will battle it out for the title of ‘Best Apple Pie in the Chelan Valley.’ The Chelan Valley Harvest Fest Apple Pie Contest will take place at 4pm at the Manson Business Center.
“Apple pies are a big deal given our local economy’s heavy reliance on the apple industry. This is an event that celebrates our local culture. It’s hard not to get excited about an apple pie contest that uses some of the best apples in the world,” said Executive Director Mike Steele.
Pies will be judged by a panel of local celebrities including KOZI’s Bruce Cannon, Lake Chelan Mirror’s Les Bowen and Manson School Superintendent Matt Charlton. Entrants will be judged on four criteria that include appearance, filling, crust and overall taste. In addition to bragging rights, the winner will receive a $50 Chamber gift certificate to be used at any Chamber member business in the Chelan Valley.
Participants can drop off pies from 3:30-4pm at the Manson Business Center. Judging will begin at 4:15pm. Pre-registration is not required. Winners will be announced following judging. Participants do not have to be present to win. There is no fee to enter the contest. Pies will not be returned to contestants; however, pans will be returned with proper identification.
The apple pie contest is an activity supporting the Chelan Valley Harvest Fest. For a full festival schedule, go to www.lakechelan.com, or call the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce at 1-800-4CHELAN.
