Latin-infused bands Romagossa Blú and Mariachi Huenachi
will perform at the final show in the NCNB Riverwalk Concert Series on September
19.
The final performance of the NCNB Riverwalk Concert Series features two
Latin-influenced bands, Romagossa Blú and Mariachi Huenachi. On September 19,
Mariachi Huenachi, Wenatchee High
School’s award-winning mariachi band will open for
Romagossa Blú. Romagossa Blú produces both original and cover music, drawing
inspiration from Latin, rock, jazz, reggae and blues.
“We chose these bands because
they’re well-known for energetic and entertaining performances, and the Latin
theme is a tribute to El Grito,” said Event Promotions Manager Jaye Payne. El
Grito is celebrated September 15 and is a celebration of Mexico’s
independence form Spanish rule.
The first time Romagossa
Blú
was booked in Chelan was for a Chamber event two years ago. Since the group’s
debut, the band has quickly become a local favorite. This will be the band’s
fourth appearance in Lake
Chelan.
Over the past six years, Romagossa Blú has performed at regional festivals, wineries, brew pubs, clubs and
private parties. The band recently opened for the legendary BB King while
performing in the Tri-Cities. On Romagossa Blú’s
most recent release, Thirty Miles to Paradise, Steve Cary highlights
his songwriting abilities.
Romagossa Blú Weekly jam sessions held in the Tri-Cities provided the foundation for
Romagossa Blú. The band is made up of veteran musicians. Singer/Songwriter Steve
Cary writes in both Spanish and English, creating what can be described as Latin
blues. He’s joined by Saxophonist/Percussionist Doug Williams and Cuban-raised
Bass Guitarist Cuco Martinez. Drummer Bob Williams’s physical likeness to Jerry
Garcia makes him the most recognizable of the group.
Opening band Mariachi Huenachi is
known for its lively and flavorful performances. Led by Director Mark
Fogelquist, the band is two-time winner of the ‘Grand Champion’ title in the
national Mariachi Spectacular competition in Albuquerque, NM.
The concert takes place at
Riverwalk
Park in downtown Chelan
from 5-9pm. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public. This
marks the fifth and final performance of the NCNB Riverwalk Concert Series.
Riverwalk Park is a picturesque park that hosts an amphitheatre
overlooking the Chelan River. A beverage garden is available.
