ImageChelan County Sheriff (CCSD) - Sheriff Mike Harum reports at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, a Burlington Northern Engineer reported seeing what appeared to be a body floating in the Columbia River just west of the Rock Island Dam.

On the morning of Wednesday, August 27, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the area, locating a deceased male subject.  The deceased male closely matches the description of an individual reported missing and assumed drowned in the Malaga area on August 15, 2008.

Chelan County Detectives and marine patrol/search and rescue responded to assist in the investigation and recovery.  Positive identification of the deceased is pending.
