Manson,WA(MVT) - Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum reports on June 15, 2008 at 5:58 PM Deputies were dispatched to assist Emergency Medical Service at 100 Santana Drive, Manson.  RiverCom reported a 60 year old male had been beaten severely and was currently in stable condition.    

Deputies arrived within minutes to find John Newell 64 year old sitting on the porch of the residence with sever injuries to his head.  Newell indicated he was assaulted by two males earlier in the day.

Newell described to the Deputies that he was in his home earlier in the day when two males entered his home and asked for a female.  Newell indicated he did not know the female and the two suspects beat him with pistols.  Newell had zip ties around his hands and legs.   Newell had a difficult time remembering what took place and was transported to Chelan Hospital and then to Harborview Medical center due to the severity of his injuries.

Deputies and Detectives entered Newell’s residence finding evidence of the assault and Burglary.  It is unknown if anything was taken.  The investigation is ongoing.
