Chelan County Sheriff(CCSD) - Cyclists Injured and Rescued
Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum reports on June 7, 2008, at 1137 AM Deputies responded with Fire/Aid to the Ranger Road area of Leavenworth to a reported cyclists injury accident on a Fruend Canyon Mountain Bike Trail. The bicyclist, Kerry Chamberlain, 47 year old of Poulsbo, WA, was participating in the Bavarian Bike & Brew Bike ride when he struck a water bar ditch crossing the trail. He was thrown from his bike and required medical help due to breathing problems and possible internal injuries.
Chamberlain was transported down the Mountain on a wheeled litter and placed into the care of Cascade Ambulance for transport to Central Washington Hospital.
Canoeist Located and Rescued
At 1223 PM Deputies responded with Fire/Aid and Whitewater Rescue to a reported overdue canoeist on Nason Creek near Lake Wenatchee. Jody and Dave Vice, 30 year old, of Seattle, had put their canoe in the creek near the Nason Creek Campground, planning to get out near Hwy 207 at Parkside, both were wearing Personnel Floatation Devices. They were last seen in the river near Braeburn Road. The Sheriff’s Whitewater Rescue Team was called to the scene to assist with locating the canoe and subjects.
At 330 PM, Deputy Mike McLeod advised he had located the subjects one mile below the Hwy 207 Bridge on dry land, both safe and uninjured. Their Canoe overturned in the river and they swam to shore unhurt. Both were assisted to the roadway by Deputies.
