Live entertainment, remote-controlled racing and a rock climbing wall will be at CruiZin Chelan on June 7
Chelan,WA(MVT) - Driver licenses and classic car knowledge are not required to enjoy CruiZin Chelan. This classic car show, held June 6-7, is designed to provide a weekend of entertainment for the whole family. The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce presents this annual two-day event in partnership with sponsors SunnyFM and GoLakeChelan.com.
“We really want this to be an event that will appeal to everyone, regardless of how much someone knows about cars. Given the great lineup of entertainment, I think we’ve done just that,” said Executive Director Mike Steele.
From 6-9pm, Woodin Avenue in downtown Chelan will be lined with classic cars and hot rods from all years during the Historic Downtown Chelan Association’s First Friday event. Downtown shops will be open until 9pm with sales and giveaways. Also downtown is the CruiZin Chelan Street Dance. All ages are welcome to “Rock-n-Roll to the Oldies’ with Seattle’s favorite party band Indy Nile from 7:30pm-10:30pm. Indy Nile is back by popular demand with a blend of dance favorites from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. This six-piece ensemble has been entertaining Puget Sound area crowds since 1997.
Live entertainment, remote-controlled racing, valve cover races and a rock climbing wall will be at Riverwalk Park the following day (10am-4pm). Glory Road R/C Speedway will provide ‘micro-reality stock car racing’ where participants can race slotless stock cars on an oval speedway. Visitors can then scale a 24 ft. rock climbing wall and play on a jumbo inflatable. Audience members are invited to dance and sing-along with Country Musician Troy “T-Bone” Lucas. He will entertain the Riverwalk crowd with old country favorites and new hits (1-3pm). Valve cover races will take place from noon-2pm on Emerson St. in downtown Chelan.
CruiZin Chelan is in its second year of existence. Last year the event attracted over 1,000 people. Event organizers expect 2,500 visitors during the weekend of June 6th this year. Other activities expected to attract tourists that weekend include the Wally Peterson Memorial Fly-in as well as the grand celebration of a major renovation at Campbell’s Resort.
Nestled in the North Cascades National Forest, the Chelan Valley encompasses the communities of Chelan, Manson, and remote Stehekin. Lake Chelan is a pristine, 50.5 mile glacier-fed lake that is the third deepest in the US. Apple orchards and vineyards surround the area, and there is an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. The town of Chelan sports upscale boutiques, gift stores, restaurants and shops that line a pedestrian-friendly shopping district.
