Chelan,WA(LCCC) - The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and the Lake
Chelan Tourism Promotion Group (LCTPG) recently awarded over $45,000 to organizations
that draw visitors to the Lake Chelan Valley. Over $96,000 was requested, and
the Chamber and LCTPG were able to provide 47% of the total amount requested
($45,840). “We’ve got a lot of incredible activities and events in the Valley.
We’re thrilled to be able to support them,” said Chamber Executive Director
Mike Steele.
Events that
received additional 2008 funding include Chelan Valley Harvest, Thunder in the
Sun, and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Banquet. Chelan Valley Harvest is
a new wine and food celebration scheduled for October 17-18. Thunder in the Sun
was a successful motorcycle rally in 2007 and is expected to draw an even
bigger crowd over Labor Day weekend of 2008. The EMS Banquet is an event
sponsored by the Alpha Hospital Guild supporting emergency medical services and
technicians to be held April 12.
The Chamber
Board of Directors and the LCTPG began reviewing requests after the November 16th
deadline in 2007. Allocated amounts were announced at Chamber Board and LCTPG
meetings on January 10. To qualify for funding, activities were required to
occur in the Lake Chelan Valley, promote economic or civic progress and draw
visitors to the Lake Chelan Valley.
Organizations
that are interested in requesting future financial support should contact the
