East Wenatchee,WA(CCSD) - Chelan
County Sheriff Mike Harum reports on November 18, 2007
at 4:58 PM, the Chelan County Regional
Justice Center, (CCRJC) staff requested deputies
respond to the facility. Deputies arrived shortly after the call to find CPR in
progress on inmate Anthony G. Ackerman, 40 (YOM) of East Wenatchee, WA.
Ackerman
was incarcerated on pending charges of 2nd degree assault and 3rd
malicious mischief, both domestic violence cases. He was housed in POD 2B, an
administrative segregation area of the jail, due to violence toward staff and
inmates. At approximately 4:45 PM, during a meal service Ackerman was found
hanging from the fire alarm in the cell. Ackerman used his jail clothing to tie
around his neck and then to the fire alarm in the ceiling of the cell. CPR was
initiated immediately by CCRJC Jail Staff. Wenatchee Fire and Rescue and
Lifeline Ambulance assisted with CPR, but were unable to revive
Ackerman.
Chelan
County
Sheriff’s Office detectives responded, as well as Chelan County Coroner
Wayne Harris, to conduct an
investigation into the death. Next of kin have not been notified.
