Manson (MVT) - Below freezing temperatures combined with recent snowfall have coated the roads with ice making for extremely dangerous driving conditions. The National Weather Service is predicting a high of about 15 degrees today followed by a low of -1 degrees tonight. And the temperatures are not expected to get above freezing anytime soon, which means the ice is here to stay for a while.
On the west side of the mountains, the icy conditions have wrought numerous accidents and brought I-5 to a standstill last night as many people abandoned their cars on the freeways and walked home.
There is a possibility of more snowfall for Manson on Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. New snowfall on top of icy roads makes for extremely dangerous driving. The Washington State DOT asks motorists not to drive unless it is absolutely necessary. If you must drive, make sure you have water, a flashlight and warm blankets in case of an emergency.
