The next first Friday will be on
October 6th. The Washington Apple Education Foundation is
sponsoring the annual apple pie contest. Bring pies in front of Chelan Realty
from 6 until 7, judging will be at 7:15 and then pieces of pie will be for
sale.
…and Scarecrows!! Vote for your
favorite scarecrow on display up and down Woodin Avenue. Our thanks to Marson and
Marson Lumber and Chelan High
School’s Woodshop for the frames! Come see
imagination at work from Chelan’s High, Middle and Elementary Schools, the
Chelan
Valley Independent School, the Red Hat Society, Teen Clubs
and more. Prizes will be awarded after the November 1st
Friday.

tours, featuring the trio, The Three Amigos.
- The Culinary Apple will present
Wenatchee
singer/guitarist, Jim Webb.
- The popular Marimba Band will be
back from Morgan
Owings Elementary School
- Food donations will be accepted
at the Chelan Food Bank
- Historic St. Andrews Episcopal Church will be open.
- P.E.O., a philanthropic
organization focused on providing women with increased opportunities for higher
education, brings back their popular bake sale.
- Soroptimist of Chelan, a women’s
service organization, will set up with information on the 8th Annual
Chelan Chase, a 5k walk/run set for October 21st with proceeds going
to the American Cancer Society for Research and to LCCH for free mammograms.
- Main St Gallery’s Artist in
Action series welcomes Doug Hunt nationally recognized artist from Oregon, painting in oil
pastel.
- Campbell’s House Café will feature a free appetizer with the
purchase of two dinner entrees.
Each month student art will be
shown beginning First Friday and throughout the month at each of the following
businesses. Aston’s, Carol’s, Culinary Apple, Main St Gallery, Shirt Shop and
Woven Threads.
Winterfest Planning

The first Winterfest planning
meeting will be held on Thursday, October 5th at 5:00 pm in the Chamber office.
We are looking for sponsors, volunteers and people with new ideas. For more

Orondo Cider & Donut Days Annual Harvest Celebration

apples & food items while watching the cider pressing. Enjoy the ‘Grower Walk & Talk’ and the
‘Children’s Cider Story Time’. A weekend
of fun. The barbecue is back, along with

Festival

Celebrate
the annual grape harvest at the Lake Chelan Crush Festival, Friday, October 6th
through Sunday, October 15th.
Visit local wineries and have the opportunity to observe
first-hand the many steps involved in grape harvest, to visit with the growers
and wine-makers, and to sample the award-winning wines this young region has
already produced. Restaurants throughout the Lake Chelan Wine Valley will feature pairings of their
specialty food items with the wines that best complement them. And for those who
can’t resist, there will be places to kick off your shoes and stomp grapes the

Luncheon (Cara)
Just a reminder that the next
Chamber Luncheon is on October 9th. Senator Linda Evans –Parlette will be our
special guest speaker discussing Blue Ribbon Health Care Commission as a
participant (Cara will have more
information re: this topic). Senator Linda Evans –Parlette will be
discussing 3 Tier Task Force and reviewing Washington State Liquor Laws, as well
as a property tax discussions. If you are interested in signing up, please

Chelan
Chase (Jaye)
The
annual Chelan Chase, a 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Soroptimist International of
Chelan, will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, starting at 10 a.m. at the old bridge on
Woodin
Ave. in Chelan.
Applications are available at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce or by
calling (509) 682-3503 or 1-800-4CHELAN.
An application can also be downloaded from the website, www.chelanchase.com . Entry fee is $15 if
made prior to October 13. Entries received after that date will be $20. If pledges total more than $25, registration
is free. A tee shirt is given to each
participant. Sweatshirts will be given
to those with pledges exceeding $200. Winners will be given awards and drawings
for special prizes will be held following the race.

Annual Banquet (Cara)
The annual Lake Chelan Chamber of
Commerce banquet will be held on Wednesday evening, November
1st. This is a time to
recognize those who have done outstanding work in the community enrichment,
customer service, beautification & volunteer contribution. The price is $37 and includes musical
entertainment, appetizer, dinner and evening ceremony. If you are a member and interested in
