Manson - Attendees of the property tax meeting were not impressed by the responses of Cary Condotta and Mike Armstrong, the 12th district representitives who held a public meeting at the Manson Grange Hall on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30 PM.
The Manson Grange was packed for the meeting
The impact of higher property taxes by way of increased assesments of property value was the main topic of the forum. Condotta and Armstrong projected to be on the side of property owners by being in support of Initiative 747 which limits annual increases to 1%. This initiative was voted into law by 58% but was overturned by a King County judge.
The general attitude of the attendees, a standing room only crowd, was one of anger and bitterness over the lack of action to protect their property from unfair increases in assesment values. For two and a half hours citizens asked questions and received no answers to the problem. They listened to stories of a 1.6 billion dollar surplus that was spent in a 60 day session but could not tell the crowd where that money went. Plans to adopt sections of California's prop 163 were dismissed because of Washington State's constitutional issues.
