Manson - Twelfth District Reps. Mike
Armstrong and Cary Condotta are concerned about exorbitant increases in tax
assessments on homes and property along Lake Chelan and have scheduled a public
“Property Tax Stakeholders’ Forum” Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Manson to discuss the
issue with local residents and seek solutions.
“We have second- and third generation middle-income families who for many
years have owned small cabins and homes around Lake
Chelan. The area, however, has caught the attention of out-of-town
developers and wealthy people from
Seattle and from out of state who
purchase next-door properties, bulldoze the old cabins, and build million-dollar
summer homes along the lake,” said Armstrong, R-Wenatchee. “That has a
tremendous effect on the long-time property owners who are unable to afford the
skyrocketing property tax bills that result from increased assessments due to
next-door development.”
“We’re holding this property tax stakeholders’ forum to better explain
our current tax system and discuss possible future alternatives to solve this
issue,” said Condotta, R-East Wenatchee. “We hope that all affected people will
attend.”
The Lake Chelan Property Tax Stakeholders’ Forum will be held at the
following time and location:
WHEN: Wednesday, Sept. 27,
6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Manson Grange, 157
Wapato Way, Manson, WA
