Chamber Update

July 24, 2006

Business Directory

Each year the Chamber publishes a Business Directory.  The Business Directory is a great list of chamber members with lots of other useful information.  We distribute the Business Directory to all residents in the Lake Chelan Valley from Chelan Falls to Stehekin this week.  In addition we provide copies to the hotels, motels and other lodging establishments to place in their rooms and we send them out in the Relocation packets to people interested in living in the Lake Chelan Valley.  If you have questions regarding the Business Directory please call the Chamber at 682-3503.

Chamber Award Nominations

Each year the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce recognizes businesses and people in the Lake Chelan Valley who have made significant contribution to the success of our community.  If you know a business or person who deserves special recognition please contact the Chamber Office to get an award nomination form.  Annually the Chamber presents awards to the Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, New Business of the Year and Chamber Member of the Year.  The Chamber also at times will recognize other special achievements including Beautification awards and Senior Citizen of the Year.  Last year the Citizen of the Year was Pastor Paul Palumbo recognizing him for his work with the Food Bank and the Teen Center.  The Chamber announces the awards at the Chamber Banquet the end of October.

Board Nominations and Election

The Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce depends on members volunteering time to serve on the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors is the policy-making body of the Chamber. Board members are selected from among the members, by the members, to represent the business and professional leadership of the community. The Board consists of nine (9) elected members who each serve a three-year term.  Directors may serve two consecutive three-year terms.    The by-laws provide that the full Board of Directors shall meet at least once a month, with additional meetings subject to call of the President.  The Chamber is seeking candidates from our Lodging, Professional Services, Recreation, Real Estate, and Restaurant members.  Formal nominations and elections will occur in September.   If Chamber Members have questions or are interested in serving on the Chamber Board please call me at the Chamber office.
