 Chelan, Washington – The Chelan Rotary Club announced the recipients of the their 2006 scholarships at a recent Rotary Club lunch meeting at Campbell’s Resort.  Darrell Thayer, Scholarship Committee Chairman announced the scholarships and introduced the students from Chelan and Manson who received the scholarships.  Darrell said, “These students were very impressive.  Each of these young adults is very deserving and good representatives of the Lake Chelan community.”

This year the Chelan Rotary Club awarded five $1000 scholarships a significant increase over the previous year.  Scholarship recipients from Chelan High School were Jake Griffith, attending University of Montana; Eric Nelson, attending Whitworth College; and Laura Waszkewitz, attending the University of Washington.  Recipients from Manson High School were Leidy Reynanda-Hall, attending Washington State University and Zain Paloalto, attending Northwest University. 

Scholarships are awarded from the Rotary Youth Enrichment Fund.  Money for the Youth Enrichment Fund comes from various Rotary events including the Chelan Century Challenge, the Salmon BBQ and other fundraising activities.
