Clarifications, corrections issued for
2006-07 sportfishing rules pamphlet

OLYMPIA - Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has announced corrections and clarifications to the recently published 2006-2007 "Fishing In Washington" sportfishing rules pamphlet. 

The corrections and clarifications may also be viewed on the fishing and shellfishing regulations section of the WDFW website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/fishregs.htm

Anglers should note the following changes to previously published sportfishing rules:

Page 54 - Tokul Creek from Fish Hatchery Road bridge to railroad trestle (river mile 1.1).

  • Error:   Part of the description for the CLOSED WATERS section is incorrectly listed (approximately 700' upstream of mouth).
  • Correction:   CLOSED WATERS - from posted cable boundary marker (approximately 400' upstream of mouth) to railroad trestle (river mile 1.1).

Page 72 - Columbia River from Hwy. 395 Bridge at Pasco to Old Hanford townsite wooden powerline towers.

  • Error:   The first salmon season is listed incorrectly as June 1-July 31.
  • Correction:   The correct season is June 16 through July 31.

Page 101 - Marine Area 3 Lingcod Season

  • Error:   The 20 fathom restriction is listed incorrectly as effective May 1-Sept. 30.
  • Correction:   No retention or possession of lingcod seaward of 20 fathoms is allowed May 22-Sept. 30 (except when halibut fishing is open). The line approximating 20 fathoms is described below.

Page 101-102 - Marine Area 3 & 4 Lingcod And Rockfish Seasons: 20 fathom restriction clarification

  • Clarification:   No retention or possession of lingcod or rockfish seaward of 20 fathoms is allowed May 22-Sept. 30 (except when halibut fishing is open), defined by the following coordinates:
    Beginning at the Bonilla-Tatoosh line, at 48° 23.87' N; 124° 44.17' W
    Then to 48° 23.60' N; 124° 44.90' W
    Then to 48° 19.10' N; 124° 43.40' W
    Then to 48° 18.20' N; 124° 46.40' W (intersection with 3-mile line)
    Then follow the 3-mile line south to the Queets River (47° 31.70' N)

Page 122 - Tideland Ownership

  • Error:   Incorrectly states that private tideland owners and lessees, and members of their immediate family (grandparents, parents, spouse, siblings, children and grandchildren) are exempt from shellfish licenses when taking clams, oysters and mussels harvested for their own personal use from their own tidelands.
  • Correction:   Private tideland owners and lessees, and members of their immediate family (grandparents, parents, spouse, siblings, children and grandchildren) are exempt from personal use daily limits (except in commercial quantities), but must obtain shellfish licenses when taking clams, oysters and mussels harvested for their own personal use from their own tidelands.
