The Chelan Valley Independent School (CVIS) will be featured this First Friday. Jeannie Kappel will bring singers from the musical “A Cricket in Times Square” to perform downtown. Students from CVIS who are also violin students of Kerry Travers will be playing throughout the participating businesses. Karl Olsen, Whidbey Island musician, will be featured at the Vogue…A Liquid Lounge starting at 8 p.m. with all proceeds donated to the Chelan Valley Independent School.
Riverwalk Books/Open Book Espresso will host Lars Clausen, Chelan author and father of students at the Independent School, who will be reading from his book “One Wheel, Many Spokes”. We may talk him into demonstrating his unicycle talent as well. Deb Lund, Whidbey Island children’s books author, will be reading from her books, “All Aboard the Dino Train” and “Dino Sailors”.
Main St Gallery will feature Anne Clausen, Chelan watercolor artist and mother of CVIS students, who will be painting at the gallery. She enjoys painting local scenes and has several paintings from their two years at Holden Village. Campbell's House Cafe will feature a free appetizer with the purchase of two dinner entrees.
The Chelan Fire District #7 Explorers will be selling reflective address signs for either your house or your mailbox. The signs, at $15, are used to help Emergency Crews find houses easier and proceeds will go toward Explorer’s uniforms and training. Chelan Rotary Club will be downtown with information regarding the 3rd Annual Chelan Century Challenge and Family Bike Ride and Boat Cruise on Saturday, June 10th.
The Lion’s Club will have a hot dog stand to benefit their Eyebank program. They will also be selling tickets for an 18-speed bicycle donated by Kelly’s Ace Hardware for the benefit of the Food Bank. The 100-year-old Episcopal Church will be offering tours and light refreshments. Back by popular demand the women of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) will have their special baked goods available in front of the Shirt Shop.
The Rock and Mineral Club will have a fundraiser benefiting the Manson Apple Blossom Festival. Guild B will have a raffle for a round trip for two to Stehekin and a night at the Courtney Ranch. The Lake Chelan Museum will have its doors open and will feature the Three Amigos.
FIRST FRIDAY is a special event held in Chelan’s historic shopping district the first Friday of each month from 6 – 9 pm. Participating merchants offer FIRST FRIDAY specials. Come see your friends and neighbors and experience the fun of downtown Chelan as we move into spring in the Lake Chelan Valley.
