MVT - This coming Thursday, July 16, 2009, Mountain View Lodge is very proud to have the Tri-Cities Steel Drum Band come stay with us.
Fitting right into the Bach Fest atmosphere, they will be playing during the day at Slide Waters and then they will be doing a free show here at the Lodge! Steel drums and marimbas will be echoing in the Valley and we would like to invite anyone in the area to stop by and see the kids play!
They will start at 7pm in the Pavilion at the Lodge located at 25 Wapato Point Parkway, Manson. There is no charge for visitors, but I do know the kids appreciate tips! Please help me pass the word for this special treat!
The Tri-Cities Steel Band Association (TCSBA) is a non-profit organization based in West Richland, Washington. TCSBA endeavors to promote and educate youth in the performance of music influenced from Caribbean origins (reggae, soca, ska, and calypso music).
The organization currently sponsors two performance bands (OK2Botay and Bram Bratá). conducts instructional classes year round including summer camps.
The association began as an idea of a few parents of Kid Calypso (a steel band at Tapteal Elementary School) players in the spring of 1996 when the school district was resistant to the idea of opening a steel band program at the middle and high school levels.
Seeing that their children would soon have no opportunity for playing as they moved on from elementary school this handful of persistent parents decided to figure a way to sponsor a community-based band and here is where we are today.
TCSBA is proud
to announce the release of a new CD! Stick it to the Pan
featuring performances from both OK2Botay and Bram Bratá. Listen
to samples from our CDs on the TCSBA CDs
