Written by Kim Ustanik, MBA President
Sunday, 28 June 2009

Good Morning Manson Supporters!

Please be sure to join us, as always the last Tuesday of the month for:

Manson Business Association Meeting

June 30, 2009

Board: 9am

General Membership:  10am

Manson Business Center

Get all the details and share your voice about all the exciting things happening in Manson!  I’ll give a few highlights below, but don’t miss the meeting for the “scoop!”

MBA

Continues to work very closely with local groups such as the Manson School District,  Manson Community Council, Manson Parks Department, Kiwanis, Grange, Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce, Chelan County, Port of Chelan County and the Washington State CTED.  Beginning back at our MBA hosted Manson Community Forum, all these groups have been working hard together for the benefit of Manson!  Get details at the meeting on Tuesday!

MBA Highlight today:  Manson’s 30th Annual 4th of July Celebration

·         Please visit www.lakechelan.com (look in the “Events” tab) or www.villageonthebay.com for details about activities and download forms.

·         We can’t do this without the community… Volunteers are needed for:

o   Parade intersection control – this is a great place to view the parade, too!  Please contact Jennifer Harris at or 687-4903.  10 people at about 4pm are needed.

o   Parade Decorated Bike area – contact Jennifer Harris at or 687-4903.

o   Wenatchee Youth Circus TICKET TAKERS – 4 people on Saturday the 4th from 10:30 – 11:30am.  Contact Jama England at or 687-3833.

o   Pie Contest set up and clean up; easy stuff, tasty, too! – 4 people from 2-3pm.  Contact Jama England at or 687-3833.

o   Event Pavilion; selling water, t-shirts, commemorative posters – 2 hour shifts in 2 person teams, starting at 12pm on Friday during Festival hours through Sunday.  Buddy up with your own friend and come down for the fun and help your community at the same time!  Please contact Aurora Flores at or 687-0361.

·         CONVERTIBLES needed for the Parade… to carry our honored citizen; Manson’s unsung heros!  If you have a car and would be willing to show off a little, or let someone else show off your car, with a Manson VIP please contact  Jennifer Harris at or 687-4903.

·         Parade Entries needed!  What’s a parade without something fun to look at????  We are a little new at this and summer is hard to get schools involved (for obvious reasons!).  Be creative and join us for the fun!  A truck, some streamers and some fun people could turn right into a 4th of July “blast,” if you get my meaning!  Please contact Jennifer Harris at or 687-4903.  Or, just go to one of our websites, download the entry form and get creative!

Manson School District

·         They are currently:

o    working with the county on safe paths to school project.

o   Working with the Kiwanis and the MBA on the Sullivan Park and Baker fence project.

Manson Community Council

·         They are working hard:

o    with County officials on zoning completion

o   Downtown garbage solutions with the MBA and Manson Parks – I think we’re close!

o   Storm water solutions with County officials

Manson Parks Department

·         Currently underway are projects like:

o   Old Swim Hole/Dog Park renovation – great progress on this one!

o   “Learn to Swim” program partnering with the Manson School District

o   Park swim and play equipment

o   Wapato Lake Campground beautiful renovations coming to completion

o   Downtown garbage issues

o   Continued tree and grounds maintenance to our beautiful parks

o   Old Mill Park enhancement plans – a planning charette coming soon!?  If you’re interested in this, please reply to this e-mail for more information!

o   Singleton Park clean up – lot s of work being done here!

o   Willow Point – shoreline reinforcement

o   Manson Bay Marina – Security lighting, camera and painting

Join the MBA meeting on Tuesday for LOTS of details!

Kiwanis

·         Sullivan Park or other Downtown enhancement leadership continues!  More info at the meeting…

Grange

·         “Tree of Life” (those are my words; and official name has not been given yet!) to honor the roots of Manson and all of us who call/have called Manson our home.  GREAT project.  You’ll want details on this one!

Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce

·         Along with such and incredible list of things that this organization does for the Lake Chelan Valley…

o   Economic Development is their/our focus for Manson this year.  This is something that is hard to see while it’s in progress, but believe me, it IS happening.  Details at the meeting!

o   Two clever young people have been hired for the summer to fill Valerie’s position and work has begun on the Manson Business Center office.  You will want to see and hear about this!

Chelan County, Port of Chelan County and CTED

·         Lots of details here.  Join us at Tuesday’s meeting for more information!

Wow!  If you made it through this list I want to thank you for your time!

See you Tuesday or, surely, on the 4th!

Respectfully,
