Senator Parlette Update on Reopening the Upper Stehekin Valley Road
Written by Linda Evans Parlette, Washington State Senator, 12th District
Thursday, 13 August 2009
On July 30 I had the opportunity to testify before Congress in support of reopening the upper portion of the Stehekin Valley Road. This road, also called the “road to Cottonwood Camp,” has been in place since the 19th century – long before the North Cascades National Park was created in 1968, and even before my grandfather worked on one of the original small ferries that traveled from Chelan to Stehekin in 1899.

The loss in Utility Services net assets had been forecast previously in that range.
John Janney, chief financial officer and chief risk officer, presented his quarterly update to commissioners and explained where things stand. He said all contingency planning steps taken so far are designed to help get the PUD on sound financial footing for 2012 and beyond.
