Pig Jig and More for Manson Apple Blossom

ImageManson,WA (MVT) - The Pig Jig Run/Walk has become a tradition of the Manson Apple Blossom Festival and for the past seven years has been wholly sponsored by North Cascades National Bank.  Kyla Allen, a former Manson Queen and marketing director for NCNB, has organized and runs the Pig Jig which takes place just prior to the Parade on Saturday, May 10th.

 

ImageRunners/Walkers have a choice between a 2k and 5k and seven different divisions will be awarded prizes.  The tee-shirt is included in the race fee which is $12 when registering prior to May 5th; cost is $15 on day of race.

Race time is 8:30 a.m. at the Manson Business Center and all proceeds benefit the Apple Blossom Scholarship Fund, which in 2007 was able to grow to $700.00.

Acquainting the public with the different tastes of apple varieties is just one way to promote and market the valley's favorite apples.  Also available that day will be homemade apple pie and apple crisp baked by Mansons' finest cooks!
Come in and enjoy the "Taste of Manson" between the hours of 1-3  p.m. on Friday at the official headquarters adjacent to Allisons in Manson.

This four-patch quilt made by the Chelan Valley Undercover Quilters will be on view and raffle tickets available during the annual Quilt Show at the Manson Grange Hall on Saturday, May 10th from 8a.m.-2 p.m. Show goers will be able to view many quilts on display and even vote for their favorite of the show both before and after the parade. Admission is $2.00 or by wearing an Apple Blossom related tee shirt, pig jig shirt, or blossom button.

Just one of the responsibilities of Landee Ward is making the buttons for this festival and she has them available in many stores throughout the valley. The cost of the button is $3.00 and goes toward funding the many events and the float connected with this long-running festival. Wearing a button will admit you free to the Quilt Show, Pageant, and Queens Ball. Helping Festival Chairperson, Jama England with chaperoning the royalty to their many appearances is another one of Landee's activities this spring. ImageManson High School Art teacher, Phil Thomas and student artist, Princess Keisha Neff, check over some of the photography that will be entered in Allison's of Manson Stuldent Art Show set to coincide with the Manson Apple Blossom Festival Thursday, May  8th thru Sunday, May 11.  Festival goers are encouraged to come in and view art submitted from students in both Chelan and Manson in many media, including sculpture,  photography, paintings and more. 

It is a juried art show with a "Best of Show" and Merit Awards given, and the public can vote for the "People's Choice" Award as well.  Allisons is open from 9:30-5:30 daily except for Sunday when they will open 11-4.
